I did try to make sure there was no underwear peeking out in this load! |
A few weeks ago I was contacted by the people at Woolzies to do a giveaway. I've passed on a few other giveaways because they didn't seem to fit in here, but laundry is definitely something I know about! They sent me a box of their dryer balls to try out and blog about.
Woolzies dryer balls are handmade from New Zealand wool. They claim to help reduce static and drying time for 1,000 loads of laundry. They are also good for the environment and do not introduce harsh chemicals into your laundry. They are unscented and hypoallergenic.
When I got them in the mail, I was actually a little bit excited to do some laundry so I could try them out. I had a few questions I wanted to answer for myself:
- Do they work?
- Will my clothes be static-y?
- Will my laundry get dry faster?
- Are they loud, clunking around in the dryer?
Firstly, my clothes are not static-y. Nothing has been sticking together and I haven't been getting shocked. I heard a few crackles when I shook out a shirt; but when I tried to shock myself while holding it, nothing happened. So I will say that these do work to reduce static.
Do they help with dry time? I don't have a good way to assess this because I am not typically home to see how long the dryer runs. I have a setting on my dryer that says "more dry." The theory is that the dryer senses the humidity inside the machine and stops when the clothing is dry. I will say that my clothes have been dry and fluffy each time I have gone to get them. Sometimes, previously, when I would retrieve a load it would be not quite dry.
As for the sound? They are actually quieter than the other, plastic dryer balls I have used before. Plus, these are a bit heavier and tend not to get lost inside the laundry. With the plastic kind, I was constantly missing them as I put the laundry in a basket, so I couldn't use them for the next load. Then, when they got upstairs the kids found them and used them as toys. The Woolzies dryer balls, however, don't cause that problem.
I left the box on top of the dryer and as I put laundry into the basket, I can easily fish out the dryer balls and put them in the box. Then they are easily put back in the dryer for the next load. I haven't lost one yet!
If you'd like to know more about Woolzies dryer balls, I'd be happy to answer your questions about my experience. You can also see the FAQ at their website or buy them on their website.

Super cool! I just read about these somewhere else recently and they sound awesome! I am definitely entering! :)-Ashley
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite household chore? Probably folding laundry. I figure I was good enough to wash and dry it. Shouldn't that be enough? NO. Now I need to fold it, too. Hmph.
ReplyDeleteI make the kids and hubby put their own stuff away, but that doesn't seem to lessen the chore!
DeleteI love my Woolzies!! They work great! Unfortunately my dog also likes the balls too, so if they come out of the dryer and end up in the laundry basket, I will find them somewhere else in the house!
ReplyDeleteOh I guess I forgot to tell you my least favorite chore...well laundry would be up there. Also cleaning up clutter!
ReplyDelete{Melinda} My least favorite chore is anything to do with laundry -- folding, washing, drying, putting away. You name it!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely for anything that would make laundry even the slightest bit easier. :)
My least favorite chore is scrubbing toilets :/
ReplyDeleteDefinitely doing the laundry!

ReplyDeleteCleaning the bathroom
ReplyDeleteI don't like to vacuum! Maybe it's the noise.
ReplyDeleteCleaning the shower has to top my list!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore would have to be cleaning the bathrooms, followed by the laundry. The laundry just never seems to be finished. I really hate folding the laundry and the static electricity. I had the rubber type laundry ball which did work but I found they had a funny odor. Dryer sheets work but, I don't like the feel of the sheets or the strong fragrances. Do the Woolzies really work for static/
ReplyDeleteAnne, I truly was surprised to not see/feel static electricity in my laundry over the past week. Now, things might be different in a very dry winter, but my clothes have honestly been fluffy all week.
Deletedusting!
ReplyDeletecleaning the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite chore is cleaning the bathroom, for sure.
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite household chore . . . probably cleaning the bathroom, which I actually thought of before I read any of the comments. However, I am such a terrible housekeeper that the most I have done to any bathroom in years is clear away debris. Yes, friends, when it comes to bad housekeeping, I compete on the Olympic level. But I would still like to be entered for the Woolsies drawing!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite is a tie between cleaning the bathrooms and mopping since my whole house has to be mopped. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore is cleaning the bathroom. Getting down on my hands and knees to clean the shower is un-fun!
ReplyDeleteI hate cleaning in general but I hate dusting w/my bad allergies.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try dryer balls! I'm going to say that bathroom cleaning is my least favorite chore, which is why my husband always does it...
ReplyDeleteRosie, I hear they are great for cloth diapers!!
DeleteI've been wanting to try dryer balls, too. My least favorite chore is bathrooms! Especially if the kids are helping.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite household chore is mopping the floor.
ReplyDeleteMy laundry never goes away. Yes! I would love to try these!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore is the bathroom. My favorite chore is laundry.
ReplyDeleteCleaning the shower... ugh. :-)

I also like laundry because getting clean clothes so easily as it is now is fascinating. I'm not trying for the woolseys balls but I just wanted to say that modern laundry beats all heck out of wringer washers, tubs and hanging on lines when dust/pollen is always floating though the air. I've even had to use washer boards as a child. Ladies, laundry is The Best!
ReplyDeleteLet's see, I don't like to wash dishes. Even though it means we were eating well, I just didn't like it. Glad to have a dishwasher. Yes, thank the sweet Lord.
I hate vacuuming and cleaning the shower.
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite chore to do is the bathroom.
