Beware of Quiet Children
Frances and Henry are at "Camp Deserae" with one of my students this week. They had a bunch of fun hanging out with her and were pretty squirrelly when I picked them up yesterday afternoon. Then the van got strangely quiet and I started to wonder what was going on.
They were talking to each other in whispers and giggling. I saw that Frances had some pipe cleaners in the back of the van that she has been creating bracelets with. I stopped at the grocery store to pick up something I forgot and then went to the day care to pick up Benjamin. I overheard bits and pieces of something involving my bed and giggles.
When we got home the kids were still giggling together while they were doing chores. I decided to let it go and enjoy the peace. I finished dinner and we ate. The kids watched a few TV shows and then got ready for bed. Then I realized that if they were doing something suspicious to my bed they would miss my reaction because they go to bed before I do.
I loudly announced that I was going to put on my pajamas and grab a blanket from MY BED because I was cold. They jumped up and scrambled around in true cartoon fashion. When I went to me room, I noticed that the bed seemed awfully lumpy...and wiggly...and noisy.
So I pulled back the covers and SCREAMED!! There was a black widow spider and a rattlesnake in my bed (made out of pipe cleaners...)
For the sake of accuracy, please note the red hourglass shape on the back of the black widow. Also note the triangular shaped head of the rattlesnake. Frances also had a little shaker ball under the sheets with her that she shook while the rattlesnake waved its tail at me.
They loved my scream and were quite proud of themselves for punking me. I am proud of the realistic details they put into their little prank.

Now that is a really good prank! I'm proud of them on your behalf! You know it's a good prank when you don't have to do any difficult clean-up. :-D
ReplyDeleteHa! That was so cool of you to make sure they were awake to see how their prank turned out. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI'd have screamed too! I so hate spiders.
ReplyDeleteThey did a GREAT job. Their details are AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI would worry about this if I were you. As they get older and older their ability to punk you in terrifying ways will only increase. Be afraid, Rabia. Be very afraid!! :D --Lisa
Unless the kids are asleep, it’s never a good thing when our house is quiet. This is such a cute story, and I love how they used props and that you went along with it. What a great memory!
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable - but no, a quiet house is never a good sign!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I love the little details. :)
ReplyDeletewhat very smart and adorable kids you have babe...dino likes to scare me too...these kids.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. Quiet house means someone is up to something, usually it means my toddler is doing something she shouldn't be doing. Your kids are adorable!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love that you realized you'd need to respond earlier so they could witness it. What a good mom you are. And I'm not going to lie, reading what they were before I scrolled down a little, they were a little creepy when I saw them. Eeek!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sharefest. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Very creative kids! A lot of thought went into their prank.
ReplyDeleteLol! How cute is this? I'm glad the enjoyed reaction! LOL! I love that e-card though because it is SO true! Stopping in from Sharefest!
