Five Minute Friday: Write
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community...
Five minutes on write...
Oh irony!! My mind has been in two places all week. First and foremost my baby girl is spending her last day as a nine-year old today. She's a bit stressed about turning 10, because apparently double digits is a big deal! Actually, I guess it is! I've been a mom for 10 years. WOW!
The other place my mind has been occupied is with a book. Four months ago I was asked to contribute to a book about the trenches of motherhood. You moms know it isn't all sunshine and roses, right? You've wondered if you're the only one having a complete meltdown over toys, money, clothes, poop...Well, you're not! And I know because of this book and the stories from the ladies I've collaborated with. I am so honored to have been chosen to write a piece for it.
Today's prompt gives me a chance to get out a little bit more of what's filling my head. You are reading this because I write. I write about our life: about family; about motherhood; about me. I write because it is cathartic. (And I don't ususally use big words, but that one just fits!)
It helps my brain to put it down on virtual paper. It's like opening the tea kettle so it will stop whistling. Or loosening your belt after a big meal. Writing this blog helps take the edge off for me. And the connections with other moms is just icing on the cake.
Speaking of which...I've got some cupcakes to deliver to a very special, almost 10 year old.
Have a blessed Friday, friends!
