10 Things I Love About my Body! #TuesdayTen

Did you know that today is National Nudity Day? Neither did I until Lisa told me and we added it to our calendar of topics. Now the question becomes "How do I write about nudity on a blog my parents read and my brothers subscribe to?" Before I start, let me clarify that
as the late great humorist Lewis Grizzard once pointed out, "Naked is when you ain't got no clothes on. Nekkid is when you ain't got no clothes on and you're up to something." (From Mental Floss)

Well, I guess I can start by saying that I see nothing wrong with nudity. There seems to be a lot of it at my house, with two boys who like to run around and shake their bums in the air! I should actually admit that I can frequently be found nude in my house in the mornings (that's not an invitation, by the way). I can't stand getting dressed in the humid bathroom after a shower, so I usually step out to find my clothes and get ready for the day. With the configuration on our house, and the chaos that ensues most mornings, I often bump into a little one or two while attempting to get my clothes on.

While I don't plan on posing nude for any magazines or portraits...EVER, I'm okay with my body. It's not perfect and there may be a thing or two I'd change, but all in all, I'm satisfied with what I've got.

1. I'm short. That's a problem when I need something off the top shelf, but otherwise it's usually an asset. People see me as friendly and cute because they can rest their elbows on my head. People aren't usually intimidated by me.

Yes, I'm short, but this guy is 6'10"!!
2. Being small also gives me more clothing choices (if I feel like hemming things), but it also means I don't have to pay extra for the "tall " sizes like some people do. True, your capris are my ankle pants, but I can roll them if I want to!

3. I've got very dark brown eyes. They are so dark, they are almost black. In school when we would talk about how the pupil works, people were always fascinated by how dark my eyes are. They don't change colors to match what I'm wearing or reflect my mood. They are consistently the same blackish-brown color they've always been.

4. My feet are tiny. Sure, there are some times that this really irritates me. If I'm looking for fancy shoes, I might have to start my search earlier than you. However, if I want sandals or flip flops, I can save a ton of money by shopping the kids' department! I will note that through three pregnancies, my feet grew permanently by about half a size. 5 1/2 is just slightly easier to find, so that was actually good news for me.

5. My fingernails looks nice...finally! I was a nail biter and a cuticle picker as a child...teen...young adult. OK, I still pick my cuticles on occasion, but I've gotten tons better and my nails actually look really nice when they grow out.

6. My hair grows nicely. I've earned a few grey hairs that lend an air of maturity to my short stature and my bangs are doing this slightly annoying Farrah Fawcett circa 1988 thing, but other than that I can get some good length out of it. I can do different kinds of styles with it when I feel like it. I can also put it in a ponytail or bun, or I can just comb it and leave it alone.

Farrah hair not in evidence
7.  My stomach is not as flat or as toned as I'd like it to be, but when I see it, I remember the three healthy babies that were nurtured within. My womb was so cozy the kids all overstayed their due dates! I wouldn't trade them for a flat stomach ever!

8. I have a talented face. I can wiggle my ears, wag my eyebrows (together or one at a time) and...AND touch my nose with my tongue!! I'm great at parties, y'all!!

9. My brain is pretty sexy. I'm smart. I have a logical brain and I love to figure out puzzles. Sometimes those gifts get a little clouded with mommy brain, but they are there. I also have the tenacity to stick with a problem until it is solved.

10. Ken likes it. (See # 7) ;)

What about you? Why do you love your body?

  1. I am short, too and was always told that good things come in small packages. So, I have to agree with you on that for sure ;)

  2. Not linking up this week because I'm a slacker. Agent A totally has the so dark brown they're black eye color thing going on. We've had random strangers comment on it. Also, my nine year old wears a larger shoe size than you; with the big feet genes from my side of the family she's doomed.

  4. "that's not an invitation, by the way" - LOL! Totally jealous that you never have to pay for stupid tall sizes! These days I usually playfully engage with the clerks at Eddie Bauer about how charging me more for longer pants is "tallism" and they look at me like I've got a screw loose.

I really love your 10 things. Now I really want to know exactly how short you are. And #10 is spot on. Great post!

I love that you added brains being sexy to the list. I'm very logical and organized and tenacious too.

  8. Love the tall/short picture! So did you ever do the video on pronouncing Rabia? If not, when you do it would need to add all of #8! ;-)

  9. I have nice fingernails too!
I wear size 6 shoes which is fun because it's always in stock and often the lowest size they have. My sister wears 5 1/2 and loves the kid sections too.

  10. Waggle your ears? Now that is a seriously cool skill! I wish! I am not sure I love my body as I get older, because it is fighting me! Especially the knees, but I sure am grateful for it!

  11. I love this feel-good post so much :) Also that you can touch your tongue to your nose--me too! Though I can't wag the ears, I imagine that's a cool party trick!

I love being naked. Not like, walking around or whatever, but it's liberating to do it in an empty apartment after a long day of work.

    XOXO

  12. Absolutely love it, Rabia! I totally get ya on the short thing, being a shorty myself! LOL! Though I have to say that the "cute" thing irritates me on occasion. ;) And the tummy thing, for sure, would never trade my babies for a flat tummy! Hope you have a great week, Rabia!

  13. I love this so much! Hahaha, I did not know about your talented face!

  14. I love your list! I suppose it's no secret (especially after the rant I wrote for this week!) that I have a hard time finding things I like about my body. I do like my hair and, actually, my feet. :-)

  15. From one shortie to another, I love your list! My daughter can touch her tongue to her nose too, but I guess it's not hereditary. My favorite on your list is #9 - I wish all girls felt that way.

  16. I love this list! I've got the kind of body that reinforces the "fat American" stereotype and I know that I need to lose weight for my health - but I love my body anyway!
