My Weekend Adventures as Told Through a Series of Click Bait Headlines

Click bait. It's all over the internet. Headlines written in such a way that you can't help but click on the link. Of course when you get there, it's not really what you were expecting. I'll admit to being overly curious about a lot of them. At first I don't want to click on it, but after the third or fourth time it shows up in my news feed, I just can't hold back any longer!
After scrolling through my newsfeed mindlessly on Saturday, I decided that it might be fun to tell you about my weekend with a series of clickbait headlines. Enjoy!

You've never seen kids chug like this!

We went to a local baseball game on Friday night. Frances and Henry got selected to participate in the Smoothie King smoothie chugging challenge! I didn't get a very good picture and niether of them won (because the other kid basically dumped the smoothie down his shirt!) but they had fun anyway. And they got a free smoothie out of it!!

What this mom saw on her phone brought tears to her eyes!

Actually, it did make me sad. My friend Julie texted me to say she wasn't feeling well. I offered to keep her kids while she went to the doctor since her husband was at work. She dropped them off and D didn't even cry! He just said, "Goodbye!" and went off to play. The kids had a good time and Julie was able to get what she needed to feel better. Then she brought us all lunch, because that's just the type of person she is.

As this mom regained consciousness, she had a horryfying realization!

Also true, but not as bad as it sounds. I grabbed a brief, impromptu nap on the couch Saturday afternoon (five kids for 4 hours is a little bit tiring). I woke up with a start, mainly because I hadn't meant to fall asleep. Then I realized that I had no dinner plans whatsoever and Ken would be home in less than an hour. Ugh! I hate it when that happens. For the record, we ended up having leftovers.

You'll never believe what got this suburban mom of three all hot and sweaty one Saturday night!

I changed the sheets on the bunk beds. That's what got me all hot and sweaty. Nothing even remotely exciting! ;) The bottom bunk makes me hit my head and hurts my back. The top bunk is a balancing act and it's just plain HOT up there near the ceiling! I was thinking it would be nice when Frances is old enough to change her own sheets up there, but then I realized that by that time she'll have moved out into her own room and Henry will be up there instead.

The horrifying mess she found in her basement will shock and disgust you!

Well it would have, but I cleaned it up! Most of it anyway. The litter box had gotten a little out of control and the space around it really needed to be swept. While I was down there I decided to clean out a corner of junk. I mostly condensed a lot of little boxes into one big one, but we did get rid of one huge bag of trash and some other assorted things. I have a bad habit of moving things into the basement when I don't know what else to do with them. In most cases, though, I just need to get rid of it.
So what click bait headline would describe your weekend?

  1. Haha, these definitely make great click bait headlines! "Intense weather causes destruction in one neighborhood" -- a downpour knocked over a vegetable pot in our backyard. Maybe I should write the headlines to all of my blogposts like this from now on ;-)

  5. Dads hate this guy!

One weird trick to get your kids to sit through Father's Day movies.

I found this website that you have to check out! (No, that's not clickbait - I'm for real! It's a clickbait headline generator!)

I was sooooo happy the day we took the bunk beds down. They are such a big fat pain to make!
How exciting that your kids were picked for a baseball game challenge! I always wanted to do one. (Still do.)

  11. haha! This is incredible! I hate clickbait! On the other hand, I work with some agencies that require a little creativity to get people to click on the links.. but I still stay true to me.
This post is amazing, though.. I had a great laugh.

  12. There's a fine line between eye-catching and click bait. And that line gets crossed ALL THE TIME!

  13. BuzzFeed is such a time suck for me. I get pulled in on all of it!

  14. Yeah, I have trouble with making the headline eye catching without misleading people. I think this came out of my frustrations there.

  15. There are a lot of things I love about bunk beds, but changing the sheets does away with a lot of that!

  16. Made them clean house?!?! I hope no one called the authorities! LOL

  17. Our garage used to be really scary. We cleared out a lot of stuff and it's been downgraded to just scary.
