Bucket List

Something about the transition of seasons seems to make other people ponder other transitions in life.  Or maybe that's not the reason at all.  All I know is that I have been asked at least five times in the past two weeks about something on my bucket list. And I realized that I've never really written it down.
So here is my list as it stands today, July 23, 2013.  Things may change, things may never get accomplished, but this is what my list looks like today:

Places I'd Like to Visit

  • The Vatican
  • Australia
  • The Galapagos Islands
  • The Grand Canyon
  • Egypt

These are, unfortunately, not real penguins.
Things I'd Like to Do

  • Go on a Game Show and win money
  • Sky Dive
  • Scuba Dive
  • Hold a penguin
  • Travel across the US by train with my family
  • Take a hot air balloon ride

Goals I Would Like to Accomplish

  • Get married and have a family √
  • Create a memory quilt for each kid out of their old clothing
  • See each of my children graduate from college
  • Create a welcoming, organized home for my family in a house that we all fit in
  • Learn to write HTML
  • Write a blog post that goes completely viral
  • Retire and devote all my spare time to volunteering in school and/or after-school programs

Do you have a bucket list?  What's on it?  Have you accomplished something from your list that you're especially proud of?

  1. This is a great list Rabia :)

I can't really help on the others because they either take money or a lot of time and patience on your end but I can say HTML is really easy to learn but very rewarding! You can sit down and learn to code a simple website in one evening

    I enjoy reading your blog

    1. Thanks Katy, I'm pretty good at Google-ing HTML, but I think I'd actually enjoy sitting through a class. I can take one for free here at JMU, I've just got to work out the time to do so. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I've made my own bucket list, although not as in depth as yours.

Check your State Zoo's for the penguin holding. I've found a bunch recently, in our state, where you can feed penguins, pet and feed giraffes, feed and pet birds, feed and pet stingrays and more!

    1. I didn't even think of a zoo. I was thinking more of taking a trip to South Africa or South America to check them out! You know, if I win the lottery!!

  3. Impressive list! I'm married so the only thing left on my list is to have a child (we are working on that). Other than that I've decided to just be happy with whatever comes in life and stop looking forward or dreaming about things that may never happen - but that's me and I'm weird. :)

  4. I like the little check mark. I would love to go to The Galapagos - a true dream. My bucket list is very about moose and whales and northern lights. I feel like one trip to Alaska could cover all of that and then I'd still be young enough to enjoy a whole new bucket list. Cool, right? A viral blog post would be a dream.

    1. I have family in Alaska! It's beautiful. I think I've seen a moose up there, but I haven't been for about 13-14 years, so I don't remember. Let me know if you ever get to make a trip up there! It's gorgeous!!

  5. Love your list! And I especially love your little check mark. One down, a few more to go! I learned HTML a few years ago, and I can say that once you figure it out, it's very easy to read.

    1. I felt like I had to put one check mark up there, so I could feel like I had accomplished something!! :)
I think I've got the gist of HTML, but I want to learn more of the meat, if you know what I mean.

  7. I'm with Tamara. I love the little check mark next to getting married and having a family! I am very lucky in that I've been to Egypt. So well worth it. I hope you get there!

  8. I totally want to go on a game show, too!! When I was little my family tried out for Family Feud. We weren't picked, and I am still bitter about it! ;)-Ashley

  9. I don't have a bucket list....yet! You have reminded me that I really should make one. I also like the little tick you have added to your list. I'm trying very hard to make a tidy and welcoming house, plus I'm ok-ish at HTML.

  13. I love a good bucket list! :) You're such an adventurer, wanting to go sky-diving & scuba-ing! I agree with one of your other commenters who suggested checking out local zoos to satisfy your penguin craving! (That sounds wrong...) That, or you might be able to touch one while swimming in the Galapagos. One trip, two bucket list items! They were surprisingly friendly and kept swimming alongside us as we snorkeled!
