The Super Bowl is a different story, though. All those great commercials! The opportunity to eat finger foods for dinner! Family party at our house!! Fast-forwarding through the football parts!! {Oh? You don't do that at your house??}
I posted something on Facebook on Friday asking about people's favorite Super Bowl Party foods. I got some good suggestions and Ken and I went a little overboard at the grocery store on Sunday. He fried some chicken wings; I made Lil Smokies wrapped in crescent rolls. He peeled and sliced some veggies; I washed and prepped some fruit. {I made some guacamole that we forgot to eat...}We placed it all on the dining room table and let the kids come through with their plates and pick out their dinner. Frances walked into the dining room and said, "It's like a buffet!"
My favorite part of all of it was the vegetable dip. Back when I taught pre-school we had parties for every holiday imaginable. New Year's, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc. And we always put out a sign up sheet for parents to send stuff in. One of the moms always brought a veggie tray with this amazing spinach and artichoke dip from Costco. I ate that stuff on everything-veggies, crackers, pretzels, a spoon!!! And she apparently caught on to how much I liked it because she started bringing in some for the veggie tray and another container just for me!!
As I was thinking of stuff to eat for our Super Bowl party on Sunday, I really started craving this dip! Problem is: We don't have a Costco membership. And I kinda felt like a dork asking someone to go buy it for me. Except I did ask someone I didn't even know. I was meeting her at Costco to buy something she had advertized on Facebook. I sort of jokingly {but not jokingly} asked her if she was going shopping and could I pay her to get me some. She must have taken it for a joke because she never mentioned it. I didn't bring it up, because, again-dork!
Then I found out my friend Julie was making a Costco run and I asked her to get me some dip. She's had it before, so thankfully, she understood my obsession.
It was at this point she called me to confirm that there was no spinach and artichoke dip at Costco! She jokingly offered to buy some spinach dip and some artichoke dip and mix them together. I was desperate, so I agreed to go along with her experiment. This is what she brought me to church on Sunday:
Rabia's Spinach and Artichoke Dip: All others consume at their own risk |
I'm definitely going to have to get some of that dip to try. I don't have a Costco membership but my mom does, so I have no problem asking her to get it for me.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing! I have a really hard time sharing it. I was actually a little disappointed that my kids liked it, because that means less for me!!
DeleteSounds like a GOOOD friend that gets you! - sounds yummy... we don't get anything good like that over here.. :-(
ReplyDeleteThank you for popping by today! I look forward to reading more from you! :-)
She's the best! And this stuff is amazing. Even better than when I've made it myself.
DeleteThat sounds so good! And what a cute label!
ReplyDeleteShe's a preschool teacher, can you tell?
DeleteYou are better off now having a Costco membership. I spend more there than I do at Target!
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! Both of those places are dangerous!
