In honor of the upcoming holiday, we are each making a LOVE LIST for #TuesdayTen. I could think long and hard about ten things I love, or I could just wing it and list the first ten things that come to mind. Guess which route I chose!
- Socks! Have I mentioned that before?
- Camisoles. AKA camis. I love them. I wear one almost every day. I was having serious withdrawal issues when the washer broke and I had to go without!
- Speaking of...my new washer! We ended up splurging a little bit because we knew our tax refund was coming. We got a great deal on a new Whirlpool!
- So obviously, I also love tax refunds! I know some people (*cough* my dad) refer to them as an interest free loan to the government, but I look at them as surprise money we would have frittered away if it had come in little by little.
- I also love jewelry. Namely, I've become obsessed with Premier and having jewelry parties. I've even looked into selling it myself, but I just haven't taken the leap yet.
- Books! That's not a surprise to anyone, I'm sure. When the washer was broken and I didn't have a way to go through the nightly cycle of swapping loads, I got back into my reading habit with a vengeance.
- Spreadsheets-I know, that probably makes me a nerd. I'm okay with that. I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of my childcare expenses. I have another that keeps track of how many steps I've taken per day, with weekly averages and color coding. I even have some that I created for work!
- My new Zumba videos! I bought them off someone on Facebook. There are a variety of workouts. I find that I can do a 20 minute one during the week and splurge on a 45-50 minute one on the weekends. Frances has even joined in!
- Fishies! There has been a steep learning curve with these fishies. We've lost three, but the other five seem to be doing well. We've gotten the ammonia under control and I'm waiting to make sure it's steady before we add in any others. Unfortunately, all three fish that we lost were Ben's and he's been sad about them.
- Little tiny notebooks. It has recently come to my attention that sometimes it gets hard to be heard in a family with three kids all vying for mom's attention. I started a little tiny notebook for Henry and put it in his sock drawer. I can write him little notes and invite him into conversation with me. So far, he's written me a few smiley faces, a couple of "I love yous!" and some short sentences about life. I'm starting one for Frances too, and I'm hoping we can open up some easier lines of communication this way.

I love it that you winged it and we have a few in common with books, tax refunds and jewelry, too 😉
ReplyDeleteAw, I love the notebooks! My fourth grader's teacher is doing that this year. They write notes to parents in them on Friday and bring them home. We are supposed to read it and write back. It's been a lot of fun! And, yay for spreadsheets - I love organization, but I am terrible at spreadsheets!! :-)
ReplyDeleteBooks and jewelry were on my list too! Gwen has an aquarium and we have lost quite a few fish over the years. Yet the one she won at the fair five years ago is still going strong!
ReplyDeleteJust waitin' on that tax refund!! I finally got my new checks after the bank fraud incident, but now I don't have any money to back them up! LOL
ReplyDeleteI took an Excel class for work and that's what started the obsession. My friend Vickie is scary good with spreadsheets, though! She's designed a few that I use for work.
ReplyDeleteThe first four we bought seem to be the sturdiest. Ben's were the last ones in and the first ones to go. :( Poor kiddo!
ReplyDeleteYour tiny notebooks idea is fabulous! I need to do this for my kiddos. Sometimes there are too many voices and just not enough time. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on jewelry, books and spreadsheets. I put everything into a spreadsheet!!!
ReplyDeleteYour notebook idea is a great idea with the kids.
Ohhh, tax returns are wonderful! We are rich for a day!
ReplyDeleteAw, I can't imagine it when my kids are at that point where Valentine's aren't 'mandatory' lol. I love camis too (wearing one right now!). I don't wear them every day but they're great to layer and wear around the house too.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sneaky way to get them to do some more writing too. They both struggle with that aspect of literacy.
ReplyDelete!. Ken's truck has been falling apart for some time, but this refund isn't enough to save him ! LOL
ReplyDelete2. Don't do laundromats. I just don't have the time to be schlepping baskets of laundry across town with three kid sin tow. We just made a literal mountain of laundry in the bathroom!
3. Ugh! I think ours is good, but I'm gonna let them test the water to be sure before we buy any more fish.
Congrats on being debt free. We're getting a new washing machine and making some large dents in our debt with this one.
ReplyDeleteSpreadsheets keep me sane! No way could I keep that much info in my head!
ReplyDeleteOr two if the state and federal come in at different times!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI've got two notebooks going so far, and both kids love it! Henry even handed me his while I was folding laundry and talking to my husband. I could answer him quickly and he didn't really interrupt!
ReplyDeleteI got more info that makes it even worse! The kids are supposed to buy their own at school for 25 cents a piece. I feel like this is the beginning of a popularity contest and I'm not ready for that!!
ReplyDeleteBooks, socks and camisoles for me too!
ReplyDeleteNot sure we're getting a tax refund, though. Sometimes we have to pay. It hasn't been a good time of year in ages!
Lately I'm into Ben & Jerry's cookie core flavors.
I had to get a new washer over the summer when my old one broke, and I love it too! Although I still hate doing the laundry... :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, we have a love/hate relationship too; me and my washer!
ReplyDeleteI got a new Maytag Washer a few years ago. Amazing how a new appliance can brighten up the mundane work of laundry. Plus, the one actually cleans unlike my old one!
ReplyDeleteI"m loving this one because it holds so much more than my old one! Bigger loads=fewer loads!
