What Makes Your Kids Freak Out?

Earlier this week, Benjamin screamed at me the whole way home from day care.  My offense?  I had "parked in the wrong spot" when I picked him up.  This morning he was extremely mad because, while he had asked me to cut his eggs for him, he didn't want me to cut all of them.  It got me wondering...What are the most common reasons kids freak out?

  1. I can't say what's MOST common, but my favorite was P.'s first tantrum, which was because I cut her banana in half and wouldn't (really, couldn't) FIX it.

  2. Oh, what doesn't?! I think tired and hungry are tied for first for us with Scarlet. Des doesn't scream at all yet.. Well he yells things like, "Dada! La la! Ma Na Pa Ra!"

    1. I think a lot of our issues can be tied back to “tired” or “hungry” but sometimes I have NO CLUE!

  3. I think "all of the above" needs to be an option! But "No" is definitely the #1 tantrum causer in our house :P

  5. All of the above, for sure. Sometimes one doesn't even know why the kid is mad until later, when s/he has calmed down enough to stop screaming and explain.

    1. Henry had a fit last night because I asked him to put away his laundry before dinner. He literally screamed and raged for over 10 minutes. 20 minutes later at dinner when we were talking about the highs and lows of our day, he didn’t even mention that!

    1. Sleep seems to be the biggest trigger in our house. Actually, lack of sleep. But I know the kids get it from me.
