The Otter, the Spotted Frog, and the Great Flood {Book Review andGiveaway}

I recently received a copy of The Otter, the Spotted Frog and the Great Flood by Gerald Hausman to review.  This story is based on a legend from the Creek Indians of northern Florida and Georgia.  It is a flood narrative, common to many cultures.  Frances even noticed that it was like the story of Noah in the bible.

In this story, Spotted Frog tries to warn the animals that a flood is coming.  Of course, no one listens; except for wise Listener the Otter.  The other animals make fun of Otter for building a raft.  When the flood waters come they are all swept away.

The story ends with a twist and the story of how First Woman and First Man came to be.

The kids enjoyed this story. I have read other flood legends before, but this is not one I was familiar with.  It is interesting to see how many other cultures have a flood narrative in their history.

Would you like to win a copy of this book and see how it turns out for yourself?  Enter below!  Good luck!
